The Sun Came Out Today
I didn’t notice it on my way into uni about 11:00 AM, nor when I ran some errands to pick up a few things needed for a meeting I was hosting for students and faculty. In fact, I didn’t notice it until about 4:00 PM — a little late for Doha at any time of year.

This sun was different, though. It rang in on the telephone in the voice of Living_Life_And_Loving_It. Maash’Allah this was a great and pleasant surprise! I was dragging myself home from work (the meds are making me a little sleepy, which isn’t a bad thing compared to the anxiety mania) so I had stopped by the grocery store and was on my way home for a nap.
LLALI (in my mind I pronounce it “Lolly”) has a great voice — full of energy, wisdom, empathy and humor — the kind that lifts your spirits and comforts, all at the same time. I can only imagine how great her hugs must be!

Thanks dear LLALI for picking up that phone and bringing the sun out today. I am going to make it a point to be like the Sunflower — turning its face towards the direction of the sun, wherever it may be.
